Post 42 will have work on their annual Rebuilding Together project Saturday, April 29th. They will need our help in working on a local family's home! You can sign-up to help out here: http://signup.com/go/zEe9EY
The time has come to sign up for Summer Camp at Camp Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan. If you've been before, we're sure you want to go back. If you've never been: you'll love it. If you're not sure: talk to your fellow scouts that have been there - they'll tell you what a great time it is.
We need you to sign up now, so that we know how many scouts will be going.
Unlike previous years, we were only able to reserve our campsite for one week. If you want to stay a second week, there's a checkbox on the sign-up form to indicate interest in a provisional 2nd week. If we have enough interest, we might be able to form a patrol for the second week.
Summer Camp Week is June 25 - July 1, 2017
Cost for planning is $335 per week per Scout.
Adults cost $150 per week after the "free adults" based on the number of Scouts we have attending.
Deposit of $125 per Scout is due by April 1, or as soon as you can give it to us but no later than May 1 since we need to register everyone by May 15 to lock in these prices. Prices go up after April 1.
Adults do not need a Deposit. Full payment is due by May 15.
Family and friends are invited to join us for a day of skiing!
Hey Troop 3 - ready for the downhill? Our ski trip campout is next month, February 24-26th. We’ll be camping in the shelter at Camp Crown and we’ll spend Saturday skiing at Wilmot Mountain ski area. And yes, you read that right: we have the shelter reserved at Camp Crown, so we don’t have to sleep in tents in February!
I know February 25th may seem like a long way away, but we need to get an idea of how many people we will have. Also, while I’ll be leading the trip, I need at least one more adult to sign-on to be there, possibly more than one depending on number of scouts - since we’ll need to transport everyone to and from Camp Crown.
Also: if we have at least 15 people skiing, we can get a significant discount. So I’d also like to invite family members to join us for skiing on Saturday and they too can benefit from the troop discount.
And since Wilmot Mountain is only a one hour drive from Evanston, it's easily drive up just for the day to ski with us.
Things to know about the skiing:
The costs for all scouts will be covered by the troop.
The discounted price for family members joining us for a day of skiing: Lift ticket $44, equipment rental $22, helmet rental $10.
So whether you’re an experienced skier, have never tried it, or anywhere in between, come on out!
I know it’s early, but please sign up now if you are planning to go. And if you are thinking about it, but not quite sure, or if you have questions, please send me an email or give me a call. Also, the sign-up is for the campout, but again, we would welcome friends and family to join us for the day for skiing at Wilmot. So if anyone is planning to come up for the day and ski with us, please send me an email.
We really need to get an early idea of how many we’ll have, so please sign up now, or drop me an email to let me know what your plans are. And again, I need at least one adult to join me in providing adult leadership for the weekend.
Sign ups for camping and skiing:
Skiing only, and not camping? Again, we’d love to have family and friends join us for a day of skiing. We don’t have a sign up form for folks coming up to ski with us for the day, so just drop me an email and let me know you’ll be coming (and if you are bringing others, how many) so that we can get a headcount.
Any questions, feel free to email me or give me a call - Jeff Wootton
Our annual broomball competition is right around the corner:
Sunday, December 11 from 6:45 'till 8:45 at Centennial Ice Rink in Wilmette. Come help Troop 3 win, have fun, and eat some pizza!
Hey Troop 3 - our next campout is a backpacking campout on November 19th and 20th. It will be a great weekend! sign up now (sign up links below). Everyone will need a backpack, but if you don't have one, no problem - just talk to Mr. Mueller.
We will be eating trail food, cooking over our trail stoves and carrying all gear needed to survive the trip. Great fun.
This is the reason for ScOUTing. To be out, enjoy and learn the adventure of camping.
Hope to see all of you OUT there.

This Thursday we will have our fall Troop 3 court of Honor instead of our regular troop meeting. Families are encouraged to attend to recognize the achievements of our scouts.
The program starts at 7:30 in the Orrington school auditorium.
We'll have our usual celebration afterwards - please sign up here to help by bringing something for the pot-luck refreshments.
Our next campout is right around the corner - this weekend in fact. Sign up now if you haven't already. It should be a great time as it's the NEIC Scout Jam. It's only held once every 4 years and 1,000 scouts are expected to attend. You don't want to miss this one! See the ScoutJam website for more info.
