posted Jan 19, 2019, 7:42 AM by Ruggero Scarabello   [ updated Jan 19, 2019, 7:47 AM ]

Due to the Cancellation of the Luge Camping Trip, for lack of snow, we planned some fun activities for Troop 3 and Families in the Evanston area.

SATURDAY 1/19 We are planning on sledding, starting with a cookout of hamburgers at 3:00 pm,, meeting at Mt Trashmore.  We will meet at the picnic tables in between the baseball diamonds to the south of the park.

Location: James Park:  Meet in the parking lot off Mulford St, SW of Oakton and Dodge, Evanston.

Bring any and all sledding equipment.

Family is welcome.

MONDAY 1/21 we are investigating the option to play at Altitude:

Plan is to meet at 3pm to play trampoline dodge ball and then head to a restaurant for lunch.  Plans are still being confirmed.

 We hope to see there!

Canoeing Campout

Hey scouts!  sign up now for our September campout where we'll be Canoeing on the Kankakee River.

Dates: September 21-23

AIC: Peter Mueller

Location: Kankakee River State Oark, IL

Campground: Kankakee River State Park, IL Group Camp 002, Davis Creek (see attached map)

Canoeing: the Troup will rent canoes at Reeds canoe trips. From Reed's website: "The first half of the 12-mile stretch from Momence to Aroma Park is studded with numerous small island and meanders through narrow channels, providing a very scenic trip. Numerous sandbars along the way are inviting spots for swimming breaks. Average padding time is 4 to 6 hours"

Timeline: please confirm your registration by September 15, but the earlier the better, so we can have an accurate count for the canoes rental.

Drivers: please confirm if you are driving. We will provide more details for the departure time and location when we get closer to the trip,

What to bring: appropriate camping gear. Check weather forecast. Wear swimsuit under your clothes. Bring sunscreen, insect repellent and a hat. Line all your gear bags with garbage bags. All safety gears will be provided by the rental company.
